I know that having math skills fresh in my mind will only help me on my journey, so I've been using https://www.khanacademy.org/ to brush up on them. I started at the beginning, because why not? Elementary school math went pretty fast. I'm almost done with 5th grade (91%). Khan Academy does limit how often you can take "Mastery Challenges," so that has slowed down my progress considerably. I understand why they do it. The brain needs spaced repetition practices to produce deep understanding that lasts past a test.
I've also been working on Pre-Algebra and have that going at 88%.
The setup at Khan Academy is really user friendly and appropriate for both kids and adults. There are video explanations for things you don't know or don't remember and hints if you are just a little bit stuck. You get badges and level up your avatar as you move through the missions. It might seem silly, but getting rewarded for learning is a good strategy for building study habits for adult bears and cubs alike.
They have more subjects than just math, and I'll get into those in a later post.
Let's do this!
